The Sebo Automatic X-1 will be the best machine

The best machine to clean carpets will be an upright. Canister vac was first design for hard surface floors. If you would call the carpet and rug institute and ask them what type would be best for your carpet, they would tell you an upright. And the upright that I would suggest for you to buy would be a Kirby. Yes it cost alot but you get what you pay for. And a Kirby is design to last about 30-40 years.

Look into the Miele line of vacuums. Not only do they combine the best sealed suction with by far the most cfm (140), they also filter better than any other vacuum. They have new models where the entire vacuum is certified HEPA - not just the filter.

IF you have mostly carpteing then an upright is the best for you. After owning others that did not do as well I recently purchased a Hoover Windtunnel( not the self propelled) and it is outstanding and would be easy to get parts for being US made also it was I think the top rated vac by a consumers testing magazine.

The carpet-rug institute would indeed tell you to get an upright vacuum. They also would tell you that Kirby has not passed their certification process.

Miele is a good vacuum, but the statement that the entire vacuum is certified HEPA is completely wrong!
There is currently no testing procedure for certifying entire vacuum cleaners as HEPA,either buy the government(who does certify the procedure for filtration materials)or by any other recognised authority such as the carpet-rug institute.
