They are both excellent vacuum cleaners.The Riccar upright vacuums are much better than mieles.The miele canisters are larger and have several models depending on attachments you get.The Riccar canisters are smaller and are not in the same category as full size vacuums,so it's difficult to compare them directly.I would give the edge to Riccar as far as overall quality of the machines.
