Re: MTD Snowthrower Wheel Lockup

Hi MTD4now,

Your greasing of the shafts and gears is not the problem. The problem is MTD.  This has been ongoing  - i'm told from my repair center the latest repair kit is their 4th attempt at fixing the problem.  The newest kit involves a sealed bearing, and my repair center has all but told me it won't work. Your problem occurs in the off-season when it's in storage, right? And then you go to move it and it's locked? Same problem i had - you might be interested in my review on this site of my 10.5HP29" Yard Machine.  But i'm also curious as to why you did not go back to MTD?

Re: Toro 826 LE - Is plastic a problem

I bought the Toro 826LE last week online at Home Depot less 20%.  What a machine!  This is my third snowblower, and the other two don't compare.  My last one was an MTD 10.5 29'' and it was nothing but trouble.  I went through MTD and the BBB to try and resolve and was not treated fairly.  Anyway, the 8HP Toro throws snow up to 45' and it is no exaggeration.  The plastic chute is not a concern - i have never owned anything but plastic chutes, and never encountered a problem on the occasion i did hit a rock.  Buy a Toro - they are well built and worth the money.
