Marty - Thanks for your response

I am sure I did but even if I forgot (which is happening more frequintly with age) the axles are not turning. I am resigning myself  that I am going to take it out again and see if I goofed up when I put it together the first time. I am going to wait a few days as someone may have a solution and I won't have to lay in the snow. It is simple enough to remove just very slow in the cold.

21 HP Craftsman transaxle.

I would first like to appologize for the amount of snow we have here in NW Ontario, as I have read some of the discussions going on and I would be more than willing to share what we have here if anyone knows how!

My problum is self inflicted. I use a 42 IN. snow blower so I use tire chains and 2 heads from a 350 V8 in the utility trunk for wieght. One of the chains came off and as it is rather nippy here, my plan was to remove the tire bring it in the house and put the chain on there. I removed the retaning ring, washer tire would not come off. I then got a bar poked at the inside of the rim a few times and low and behold the axle came along with the tire. (I will, from now on, remove the tires twice a year and grease axles.) (hind sight is 20/20)

I then removed the transaxle, split it and replaced a spiral retaining ring on the inner end of axle. (bought a pakage of 5 for a $1.50 at Canadian tire. I then reassembled tray added fluid 20W50 put it back in the tractor and I have no movement of the tires in either direction. I have made shure the input shaft is turning and I am open to any suggestions. I filled the transaxle right to the top so am wondering if I overfilled or not. Also every thing was fine until my intervention seeking warmth.

                                                                                     Thanks Dennis
