I have 1500 square feet of living space not counting a patio and two car garage. 75 percent is Mohawk ceramic tile. The other 25 percent (3 bedrooms) is Mohawk high pile loop carpet. I have a dozen area rugs in the house from small to large: Kitchen, dining room, living room, patio, and garage.
We arrived in the new house on August 8. We purchased the house May 15. We moved from out of state (2500 miles away) and were waiting for our household goods to arrive. I could not wait for the vacuums (due August 13 from the mover) to clean the house. We have a yellow English lab that sheds year round, a 2 1/2 year old granddaughter who visits every day (and another due any day) and the house (although new) was in need of a thorough vacuuming. My dear Wife is an allergy and sinus sufferer year round.
One of my first actions was to visit the local HOOVER store. I was actually looking to buy the new HOOVER Constellation. They had not arrived yet. Instead I bought a new HOOVER bagged WT Supreme for $149 with filtrette bags (free with the purchase). HEPA rated. One year unconditional product guarantee from HOOVER. Manual rug height adjustment which is needed for the high looped carpet and area rugs. No suction regulator. Tools on board in a closed container. Embedded dirt finder. Full bag indicator. 30 foot cord. HOOVER turbo tool and additional hose available for extra cost. (If you wait for a Kohls sale you can buy a comparable model with the turbo tool and extra hose free with purchase). I did not wait. I don't need (or like) the turbo tool. And while we have high ceilings, its all one level. So the hose and wands with the WT Supreme are sufficient.
The HOOVER WT Supreme does not have a brush shut off. But I have used it in the upright mode to vacuum the ceramic tile floors (on the highest setting). It does have a tendency in the upright mode to scatter the debris on the floor before picking up. For example, today I installed 5 ceiling fans with lights: Hampton Bay. These are packed with styrofoam. When I undid these fans, the small white pieces break off and get all over the rugs and floors. And they stick. Plus I got pieces of wire cuttings all over from the splicing and connecting. I used the WT in the upright mode to get most (passing over the floor slowly) and then in the attachment mode for the hard to get places for the rest No problem.
I've used the WT Supreme every day on the carpeting. I'm picking up alot of new nap from the shedding carpet. The filtrette bag is almost full. No loss of suction that I can notice. No bag indicator on yet. I've also used the WT Supreme to vacuum the garage floor (cement) and the outdoor patio (cement) and the sidewalk and front porch (cement). We are in a new development in North Las Vegas. Hot and dusty. I've vacuumed the screen door to the patio several times. The garage door and front door several times. The patio furniture several times (4 fabric and metal chairs and 3 glass and metal tables). No problem with the fine dust and the rug nap. Also, I note that the green light is on while I vacuum the rugs indicating the rugs are clean, despite the new carpet nap pick up. I suspect I will have the filtrette bag in use for one month before changing.
We also have 7 window treatments throughout the house: Louvered vinyl. I use the hose and crevice tool and/or round brush. No suction regulator needed. The brush prevents full hose suction. The crevice tool for the nooks and crannies require full suction.
I think the $149 was the best expenditure I've made on the new house so far. That includes a 50 inch LG plasma HD TV with DVR too, and new leather living room furniture (which I use the WT to vacuum also).
