The Oreck DTX 1300 and DTX 1400 are 120 volt versions of the Philips TC633. This is a premium European vacuum designed to be durable and clean very well. I do not know what power nozzle the other reviewer has but mine came with a Wessel-Werk EBK340 and it is outstanding. It is one of the more aggressive power nozzles made. The other power nozzle these were occasionally sold with is a small Wessel-Werk EBK290 but in my experience those clean well too. It is one of the nicer canister vacuums sold in the US but parts are now hard to come by.

Pros:
Well made, durable, variable power, powerful, long hose, excellent Wessel-Werk power nozzle, easy to change bag, nice metal telescopic wand, extra wand for the hard floor brush (nice high end touch) just an easy to use vacuum that doesn't make you bust a sweat or contort to use it.

Cons:
The Oreck branded paper dust bags are awful, but Envirocare sells a very nice synthetic microfiber dust bag for Riccar 1400, 1500, 1700 and 1800 models that is perfect fitting replacement for the Oreck dust bag. Just remember to fold the long end of the mounting card down into the bag a bit and no dust gets past this bag. In Europe these use the Philips Oslo + dust bag. I buy these from fhp.fi in Finland, nice synthetic bags from Menalux. Other than that the dusting brush is too small, same complaint I have with Miele dusting brushes.

This is not a new design in a vacuum cleaner. It was a vacuum cleaner under a different name. Oreck takes vacuum cleaners and/or has them made for him, then increases the price above what the original was offered for.

I found this vacuum cleaner to be very quiet. It has alot of power for a vacuum on the smaller side. It was very easy to handle and move around. The "gas pump" handle hose was very comfortable when cleaning the carpeting. The machine end of the hose port swivels for more maneuverability, so there is no need to constantly move the machine.

The small power nozzle is very weak. The bristles are very soft, which translates into weaker pick up of debris. I think it would be fine for indoor/outdoor carpeting or flooring. The user could upgrade the power head to a larger power nozzle called "Big Foot". The bristles on this nozzle are stiffer. Purchasing the larger nozzle also would increase the already high price for this model unless you could talk the dealer into making a switch.

If you are a person like me that uses the attachments, then this vacuum may not suit you. The attachments are on the small side like many of the foreign made vacuum cleaners and increasing number of American brands. You have the option of purchasing wall/floor brushes that are made by Wessell-Werk.

This vacuum has very good filtration, power, quiet and is easy to use, but if a major portion of your cleaning is carpeting, then there are other options.
