I have both a cxl and a dxl Tristar vacuum.. I have been looking for an original exhaust cap. The ones available are black plastic. Photos of original machines show a chrome cap which I assume is plated metal. Does anyone know a source for the chrome caps and if they are actually metal? I am not getting any answers from the sources I contacted so I thought I would post on this site. Wes

The originals are black plastic with chrome paint and a little red badge in the middle. You can buy a can of chrome spray paint at Wally World, slip some paper between the underside and the diffuser cap foam and make it look like the original minus the little red badge in the center. The originals were not metal.
