Hello Lucky1:

Not sure ORECK is the appropriate party to make such an announcement.  Maybe it's more appropriate for the company partnering with ORECK on this venture to make the announcement since it controls the details.  What do you think?

I'm not sure if it's The Oreck company actually making a specific Public announcement... it's more of a backroom concession to the Dealers they have screwed in order to quell the rising ire. Going to be a lot of angry independents (...but who cares about them).

Please clarify for me.  When you say "dealers" and "angry independents" are you referring to ORECK franchises or independents [as we use the term here who carry all makes and models] or both?  If you go back to my relpy number 21 here on this thread I made a statement about ORECK's 550 store network and their attractiveness for allowing ORECK to go "retail."  From a business perspective because of the ORECK model, my statement is spot on.

Wow.  That's huge.  About as huge as SEARS picking up certain ORECK models for sale in its stores starting next month.

Hello Vacmanuk:

I plan to order next month when it becomes available at my local ORECK Clean Home Center.  I expect at this time to have to pay the full MSRP of $499 which doesn't bother me even if the price subsequently drops.

FYI:  Only model available for $299 is the straight suction.  Model with P/N won't be available until end of month [March 30 and not sure that is a good ETA date].  MSRP $400  Quest is Pano made in China.  No word yet [from ORECK] on timing for MIELE made ORECK cann.

What a pity Oreck can't make their own canisters. I know they still have the black deluxe model - the blocky rectangular one where in the U.K if you don't buy the Deluxe model, you're compromised by having no wheels and thus have to buy an optional clip on set of wheels - in my mind Oreck are the ONLY company that have this in place. If Oreck went out on a limb and produced similar canisters to what they've made like the Philips Dutch series, they'd probably do well in Europe.

The ORECK Ironman and Buster canisters and compact handhelds which dual with the lightweights are ORECK made.  The Ironman comes with wheels.   If I'm not mistaken, the latest HOOVERR/TTI compact cann with lightweight bagged up dual doesn't have wheels but glides/slides.
