Costco cardholders,

For those interested, I just got the latest Costco coupon thingy and a $60.00 off coupon is being offered from May 13th to June 6th -- in my area and at Costco Online -- for the Oreck XL Pro Plus.  This includes the lightweight upright and portable vacs plus a turbo tool and year's supply of bags.

A good thing I guess but this Costco package for those who'd like to get an Oreck team or feel one might suit their purposes may prove attractive as it is priced nicely below the $299 usually being asked.  Just this moment it sets me thinking even more because of the economy.   I've just spoken with a friend who has a friend who's just lost a job after eight years of service.

We are all still going to need or want the everyday things we need, like or accustomed to but our only choices regarding those will be what we can afford -- working or not.

No doubt Venson the ORECK deal at COSTCO is hard to pass up at $240.  One note FWIW the ORECK Silver up solo at $225 comes with 5 year warranty.  COSTCO combo with 2.  Choose your preference.

Hi Carmine,

I wish I believed that people believe in warranties -- especially in regard to low-priced goods.  When I mentione the five-year warranty to the woman looking at the Navigator, it did not appear to matter as much as price.  A lot of people are not meticulous about either registering new appliances or holding on to sales receipts.

We're talking here of a shoppers willing to gamble on choice in an environment where basically all you get to do is read besides the price tag is what's printed on the box.

I do not know how Costco operates elsewhere but in my local store you schlep around on painted concrete floors while ducking passing forklifts and floor cleaning machines as you decide, I'll have this or that, whether you're looking at potatoes or televisions.  However, I'm not sure I understand you correctly.  If "solo" means just an Oreck upright, I don't know what I could do with that.  I'm not a great fan of Oreck but if I had to to chose I'd go for the option that allows me above the floor cleaning possibilities as well.  The Costco deal also offers, "this, this and this,"  Low-budget shoppers jump at anything they see as a lot for a little especially if it's coming from a well-known maker.

Hi Venson:

Maybe the 5 year warranty on the Shark navigator is not a big issue for this COSTCO buyer due to the liberal return/refund policy at COSTCO which from what I hear from word of mouth is the best of all the big box retailers.  "Solo" is just the upright BUT it comes with 8 bags not counting one inside.  ORECK was very smart to offer its upright only for sale several years ago [2007] when I bought 4 XL Classics at $150 plus tax and no shipping.  The current deal at COSTCO is a winner in my view and sure to sell ORECK product for COSTCO.  I'm thinking for a reason too.  Not just slow season for vacuum sales but also new ORECK product for COSTCO on the horizon.  The latter ties into Trebor's posts on new ORECK product including a bagless upright in addition to its bagless cann.  Of course the new "Pilot" ORECK too with swivel head and handle which I believe just hit some of the ORECK stores.

Hi,

About how much does a pack of the usual Oreck bags run?  The set I'm speaking of offers a year's supply which I'd assume is about the same number of bags that comes with the Solo.  As oreck upright bags are large, even a half dozen gratis doesn't seem a bad deal.  Note however, they do not indicate that htere's a year's supply for both the upright and the mini can.

Gee carmine.  Don't take things so personal.  You were very supportive of mole when he did the same.  Always knew you couldn't take a punch.  Since when is the truth impugning.  They sell close out merchandise, OEM branded goods and low to middle end goods.  WM especially caters to the lower income families.  How many WM's in affluent neghborhhods?  Wish I could post some pictures of the representative shoppers that are floating around.  A tit flopping out or shorts in the crack must be considered fashionable by some of the females there. Costco sells name brand electronics that are made for them so they do not have to price match.  Different model # than what is in other stores. Many stores are competetive with their pricing.  The customers simply fail to price shop.

As stated on a different thread, I never disagreed that these stores would survive.  Now, when they have total control of the market watch prices soar on that same low end product they sell.  Unfortunately they have driven too many samll businesses to their grave.

If you have data to prove me wrong please present it.  I know that the truth digs badly at you.  Get over it.

BTW, I shop at WM and Costco and Sams.  That is unless I want upgraded products.

BTW, get over the ego trip.  You have told nothing that wasn't known by most.  If they didn't know then it wasn't of interest to start with.

One bag should suffice for a year or two.  Unless you remove it from the vac and fill it by hand.  Not many homes have enough surface dirt to fill a bag any sooner and Carmine already explained that Oreck will not deep clean.

Hello Venson:

The genune ORECK CC High Density [no frills] upright bags are $12 plus or thereabouts for 8 which is usually considered a one year supply.  I change before full and usually get a 2 month usage per bag.  It shares the household cleaning with at least one other upright on a normal basis. BTW, dirt capacity is 630 cubic inches.  It has antimicrobial protection to inhibit bacteria growth, mold, mildew to control odors.

ORECK concisitently beats a hosts of dyson uprights at rug/floor cleaning according to Consumer Reports.  So what does that say about your favorite brand bumsell HS.

I'm not a big fan of CR myself.  The best thing I find about it is this:  It rates HOOVER as the best upright for rug cleaning.  As I do.  Like the HOOVER WT and TEMPO.  Two of my all time favorites.  CR reports factually about dyson and bagless vacuums:  More sizzle and hype than substance and function.  I believe and say the same about dysons and bagless.  WRT your opinions, like the above, makes no difference dipsell what and how you feel about CR and your other nonsense commentary.   Nobody cares.    It's not personal.  It's business.  You don't have it and will never get it.

I fail to se the relevance of ratings because of your opinion.  Your opinion is like an a#$hole which we all have.  What makes you unique is that you ar an a#$hole with and opinion.

You have no idea about Dyson performance.  Just more of your deceipt and BS.  Do you actually think anyone cares about your antiquated thinking?

Business for you was lies and deceipt.  After 40 + years of that I do not expect you to reform.  So, you could say that I get it. Remember I told you that Hoover would fold. AND THEY DID.

Keep the flattery going for DYSON.  The most copied and envied vacuum you can buy.  Don't you wish you had gotten on board rather than sinking with Hoover?

Go to an upscale store tomorrow and buy something nice for the home.  You will feel better even if it looks out of place with those rejects and overstocks that you decorate with.

Id say in the right home/enviroment the Oreck combo with 2 yr is the ideal choice...many years of life...10-15-20+yrs poss..... nice filtering bags/size.

One of the very few vacuums that can do a great job at home as well as in a commercial enviroment...a proven durable vacuum that will last.

On a tight budget ,with that coupon you cant lose....great price and long life...solid reputation.

Sorry Mike W but it so fits HS I couldn't help myself.  Since you called me out only, perhaps you can also ensure that HS does NOT get personal with his posts and sticks to the product facts and not me.  If you check his litany of posts here, and I'm not sure you ever do, you'll note that his posts are inevitably directed toward me personally and professionally.   Not vacuum products and their pros and cons.  Detracts from the purpose of my dialogue to constantly have to fend off his childish personal attacks against me since you have turned a blind eye to it.

Have to agree turtle.  COSTCO is not the only big box retailer which carries and sells ORECK vacuums.  Other big box retailers do also.  I expect to see even more BBR stores sell the ORECK brand of vacuums and even ORECK air purifiers.   Probably sooner than we think rather than later.

COSTCO prices for ORECK are competitive with the authorized ORECK stores.  Maybe too much so.  Ask Lucky1.  However, ORECK has chosen to keep its latest and greatest models in ORECK stores while allowing big box retailers to sell the older discontinued ORECK models.  I think it's a win win for ORECK and vacuum customers.  Lucky1 probably feels differently.  I must say ORECK's timing was absolutely superb.  ORECK never shuttered stores up to the recent economic downturn in 2008.  But since 2008, unfortunately, some ORECK stores have closed.  Not many but some for a variety of reasons not completely related to just ORECK.  For example, typically ORECK stores are located in malls that have one or more big name stores as anchors to draw customer traffic.  Some of these stores closed and left the malls.  Customer traffic suffered.  ORECK suffered.  ORECK's move to big box retailers could not have been better economic and business timing.

Correction:  The ORECK duo at COSTCO comes with a 3 year warranty not 2.  I received the COSTCO sale ad with ORECK $60 coupon in the mail.  Thanks for the heads-up Venson.  Sale starts May 13 and runs thru June 6.
