Toro model 726te 7 hp two stage
R*tek two cycle engine 141cc
Review dated 1/27/05

This snowblower is a 2004 model purchased October 2003. It is now listed on the Toro web site as being a model 726/6000. I have not noted any
difference in features, specifications, performance or price.

This machine has so far met or exceeded all expectations. The heaviest snowfall to date has been 12 inches with EOD of 12-14 inches. It blew
through the virgin snow with no difficulty at all. Had to work a bit harder on the EOD but still did the job. Am convinced it could handle 18-24 inches without any problem. The Power Max system is as advertised, and is very efficient at maximizing snow volume through the machine. The joy stick for the chute is superb, though not quite able to achieve the same deflection to the left as it does to the right, a very minor complaint.

The R*tek engine starts easily with the recoil. Electric start is included (with a plug-in, no battery). For those not interested in a two cycle engine, this machine is virtually identical to the model 826 with the 8 hp Tecumseh engine. I am glad I have the two cycle. No oil change-oil check is required. With stabilized fuel in the tank, it is ready to go at a moment's notice.

For my needs, one more hp would not make any difference. One full tank of fuel results in approx 60 minutes operation (1.4 qt). Am currently
using Stihl Hi-Performance 2-cycle oil in recommended 50:1 mix.

I am not bothered by the noise level. In fact, I believe that after some heavy usage the engine is not as loud as when it was new. Some may
be bothered by the smell or by having to mix the fuel, but these are trade-offs I am willing to accept.

10 months after purchase, received notice from Toro about changes needed to the chute and related assembly. Result was installation
of new-even stronger polyurethane components all installed at no charge, pick up and delivery included.

Purchased from: The Andersons of Maumee (Mower Center), OPE dealer for 40+ years

Date Purchased: 10/2003
Price Paid: $899
Recommend: Yes
Pros:
Great combination of features and performance for the price. Toro quality and dealer-manufacturer support. Dealer recommendation saved me $100 versus purchase of the model 826. Traction-good.

Cons:
Small fuel tank-minor
Noise and smell-minor
Maneuverability-could be better
Lack of a headlight
