Re: “Anything” Dyson that makes news.

I will second the fact that neither DIB, myself, nor anyone else has referred to others on here who may possibly have differing opinions as a drunk, or cast off a particular person's rantings as a "mad drunk rant" (and I've certainly experienced those).
Anti-Dyson on the other hand? Yes, yes, and YES, and for no clear reason. The Dyson bashing I've seen here does not consist of truth and facts. Once again, making something up once and repeating it so often you believe it is not a fact.

Filter Queen does clog as it uses a filter cone, although it can hold its suction a lot longer than a typical bagged cleaner as air is being drawn through all sides.
The interesting thing about Rainbow is that they never made any mention of (or capitalized on) the fact that their machines don't lose suction, seemed to me that from Rexair's point of view that was second compared to the (theoretically more important) idea that the machine uses water to catch the dirt.

Oops! Sorry guys, I was getting the Ocean Blue confused with the (gasp!) Big Power. That particular machine does not have a separator (unlike the Rainbow, Hyla, Delphin, and Ocean Blue), and is *heavily* hyped. I think it has been discussed on here before. Apologies for the confusion.
Indeed, the Ocean Blue bears a lot of similiarity to the D4/SE. I do like the Wessel-Werk powerhead it has (as is on the Hyla), very good P/N and dare I say it's better than the current Rexair P/N? The one thing I do not care for on the E2 is that Rexair still hasn't managed to incorporate a geared belt (or at the very least a lifetime quiet-drive serpentine belt). With a good belt it's great, but when that belt is stretched and starts to slip you can sure tell. Then again, Rexair seems to be up for a power nozzle redesign in the near future regardless, the E-series design has been out 10 years already.

Yes. Sell the DC14 and buy a Hoover Whisper which is basically the same machine for $120, with a few advantages Or, sell the DC14, save for a little while and go for either the DC17 or one of the new Ball models (24/25). The first-generation models are good vacuums but they have been out for a while and when compared to the new models, don't seem to do much on the "impressiveness" factor anymore. You'd be a lot better off with a brand new cleaner. Except in the case of Kirby, I don't normally buy a vacuum used that I could buy new (read: recent model). -MH

What I've found is that while many other manufacturers have tried to copy the Rainbow, both with separators and without, even the best of those can only equal the performance of a D4/SE. The E2 outcleans them every time. Ocean Blue website. -MH
