I would check the belt for proper routeing first... It may also have a burned up idler bearing on the pully somewhere that is causing all your probs... I looked at the sear website and parts breakdown.. It shows a filter but no fill plug, on the owners manual it says the trans requires no service unless leaking... but doesn't mention the filter or show it in the breakdown--- (on owners manual) Good Luck, Friiy

Re: Mantis tiller no spark

Try to disconnect the kill switch wire from the coil, it may be grounding out someware on the handle.. or if the switch is mounted on the unit it could be pinched under the housing grounding it out.. do a google search for the part number of your coil. see if you can find the ohms limits for the coil's primary and secondary windings.. The coil may be shorted or opened internally causing no spark, coils rarely go flat out dead, if they are going bad-they may stop woring when hot as a symptom. The tiller may have sheared the flywheel key, this will not keep spark form happening, but can cause the timing to be off so much that the engine will not fire.. try taking off the plug boot, The wire on the end of the bood may be corroded where it connects to the plug tip, look for green powder. check your spark plug boot, they can dry out and carbonize when hot and conduct / short your spark... Good luck, Friiy

Re: echo PB-250 Blower carb adjustment

I had a Echo Pb-250 that i was working on for a guy, it was a month old and did not like the way it ran.. I took a look at the carb before i tried to adjust it, in the factory the carb to insulator block gasket was put on backwards. This caused the pulse port to be blocked on the carb / insular block. Turned it around and it worked fine , no adjustment needed.. They are quiet compared to some other echo products (older stuff)... but they should not die.. Friiy

Re: What to do with my backfiring Briggs Engine on My New Ariens Snowblower

Depending on what year, engine costs, and size. engines may come with a main jet solenoid that cuts all fuel off at shutdown, this is to reduce exaust and stop backfires. Most or all need a battery to run the solenoid when starting. I imagine that the solenoid can be found or modified to fit about any engine made by Briggs with a fuel bowl.. Good Luck, Friiy

Re: Honda HS624 - Running Problem

Clean the main jet and the Nozzel... That should be all you need to do.... the pilot jet only runs the engine at idle or low throttle settings (or no load normal speed)... The main jet feeds the pilot, if the pilot is clogged it will surge, or die at low speeds but sound good under load when the main jet takes over at open throttle settings... The best way to clean that those is to take them out.. Good Luck, Friiy
