Toro snowblower auger interlock

Your supposed to be able to let go of the auger lever while you also have the traction enganged and the auger will stay engaged also.

Mine is not doing that.  I see what the problem is, the spring loaded lever that should lock everything in place is not moving into position.  I have lubed everything with some lithium greese but that didn't help.  I suspect the spring is weak. 

Anyone else have this problem  No one has a spring in stock so I don't want to just start orderign ramdom parts if it won't solve theproblem.
