Ccr2000 38186
Original Message   Jan 15, 2014 7:02 am
Hi having start problems with my toro ccr2000 model 38186 serial 4900000 series. I have read about the stens mega fire fix for the 38180 model. I have taken a look at the toro diagrams and the 38186 model looks like it does not use the toro xstar module that I could replace with the stens part. Is this correct? Thanks

Hello
The Toro model that you have does use the module.
It's part # 81-4640.  It is shown under the
Recoil Starter Assembly diagram in the parts viewer.
Item #10
I'm guessing that you have already pulled the plug and
checked for a spark?
Checked all the wires and made sure that none have a worn spot
that is grounding out the system?
Unpluged the key switch and checked again for a spark?
Tried another plug?
If you've done all these things, then your module probably is bad.
Stens “MegaFire II” module; part # 440-465
Oregon makes a module as well part #33-053

Thought I would try firing it up first. Started easy, let it run five min no issue. Shut it down for five min , then started on first. Will try again tomorrow. My guess is operator (wife) error before. It stalled on her after 20 min and she kept priming it - my guess is she really flooded it.

Spoke to soon. Fired it up the day after . Started backfiring then stalled out. Did that a few times.
