Anyone make their chute motorized??? To turn left and right....
Original Message   Nov 27, 2010 4:56 pm
I saw a video of this once in youtube I think. A guy bought a cordless drill and attached ot the the auger handle. This let him control the auger left/right from a switch!

Just make sure you get a DPDT monentary contact switch with a center off position.   These are readily available at Radio Shack for a few dollars.

Carlb & Shryp are right, you need a switch that automatically returns to the center or off position. When you use the switch, one side will rotate the motor in one direction and the other side will reverse the rotation.
Here is a little wiring diagram to help.(the black boxes are the switch terminals)

Thanks, this looks like the one:

Now, see the trigger in the middle, where the red and black wires go into? I'm assuming I'm elimunating that? But, if you look at the end of that trigger, blue and yellow wires come out, and go to what's called a "cooling plate" that spiked thing in the back. I'm assuming that will be eliminated to?

Another option is to use an automotive seat motor. These can be found cheap (or free) at junk yards.

Got it done, just need to mount the switch:

Also, I noticed that I do have an AC alternator with one lead coming off it, I think for a optional light, that I don't have. I would love to use this AC alternator to power the DV motor. I'm currently using the drill battery which is 18v.

Looks good. Operates a bit fast though. Try using a 12, 9 or 6 volt battery to slow it down if necessary.

Cheers

That is awesome. I like that it moves fast, provided you only blow left or right. No screwing around, just *bam* and it points where you need it.

I might have to do something with mine just to play with snow blower. It's been a snow drought out west these last two winters. My engine is still fogged from last winter. You guys out east have been getting all the action.
