Ariens 926 DLE loosing snow
Original Message   Jan 24, 2005 1:11 am
I did try my 926 DLE "Orange Crunch" this weekend.  I noticied that snow was coming out of the auger housing on the very left in a circular pattern like the auger moves.  I stopped the auger and a little snow came out where the deflector meets the chute.  About a 1/4" gap there.  Is any other Ariens 926 user experiencing this?

The auger is turning around 130 RPM, twice a second, pulling snow into the impeller. Ive seen a few machines that when dealing with powder can throw a small amount forward. Its the nature of spinning objects contacting the snow.

If one of the  steel ribbons , especially at the end, ever gets bent slightly from hard snow ar somthing worse, it can cause some snow to be trown in other directions.

You usually wont see that if the snow is the wet type.

Great point MM, it does not happen all of the time, it is pending snow conditions.  Really frozen cold snow in particular.  I cleared a buddies huge drive two years ago when they were away in the mid west it was a huge storm and by the time I got there two days later the snow was 18-20 inches high and was frozen and cold.  I noticed over the hours I was out there working that on occasion some snow would be thrown out the side, not a lot mind you but some and not all of the time and I figured it was from the augers spinning so fast and the amount of snow.  It does not do this often.

It isn't clumps of snow that are coming out.  It's really not much to worry about, but for an expensive machine like this, I'm expecting more.  It's just a little stream of snow about 1/8" wide.  Here are some pictures of the seal where the chute meets the deflector.

Nice pics there Ajace, but you need to learn to resise them before putting them on the website. Makes the forum trashy. Please resise them to 800*600 or less thanks...

Hi Ajace!

Click on edit to edit your post. At the bottom right of each pic, you should be able to click and drag and resise the pic from that corner of the pic. Just as if you were doing it in microsoft word.

In the future...When the pics are on your computer, use photoshop or a program like it to resise the pics to 800*600 or less, then upload them to the server that you have been doing.

I couldn't think that quickly.  Duh, I can resize it using a program, but never thought to resize using the forum software.  With the old board, you had to specify the size you wanted in code.  Thanks for helping me think.

Your welcome Ajace!

I have made the same mistakes myself. The difference between you and I is that I learned the hard way. No one told me how, I ended up getting in trouble with the admin!

Ooo, Termy.  Sorry to hear that.  I try to help as many people here as I can, with what I know.  Those pictures still aren't perfect.
