Gloves or Mittens for Snowblowing?
Original Message   Jan 22, 2005 3:40 pm
I am really tired of having my fingers freeze while snowblowing. I know the newer models have heated hand grips and I remember seeing a post on here last year about adding them to a machine but I would prefer to just find a pair of excellent gloves.

Any brands in particular that you have found work best?

Ariens 824 Sno Thro, Toro 18" Gas Trimmer, Craftsman 3.5 HP 9" Edger/Trimmer, Echo SRM230 Trimmer/Brush Cutter, Toro 21" Recycler II Mower, Craftsman 8.5 HP Chipper/Shredder, Craftsman 25cc GAs Blower/Vac, Husky Y1000 Air Compressor, Homelite EZ ChainSaw, Husky Chain Saw

Hi...

Mittens are definately warmer than gloves...

I have a mixed-breed... called crab-claw mittens...
A thumb... and two "finger" parts... two fingers go in each part...
Got 'em from Cabela's... not waterproof...

I also put on  thin glove liners on 1st...

You can also get heat packets for your mittens...
Maybe at Kmart...

...Or other type of warmers... including electrically heated gloves that motorcyclests wear...

I use a pair of Lamont leather insulated gloves. They work great, and I never need mittens.

Mittens keep you warm, gloves keep you protected.

I'm a skier, and have had a pair of Hotfingers gloves for at least 10-12 years now.  Very warm, keeps the snow out and stay dry.  Obviously they don't make this exact pair anymore, but they are similar to these

I have had many different pairs of ski gloves, several more expensive than these but these are my all time favorite.  I'd hate to lose them! (and they're starting to look ratty, but I don't care) (They say they can be laundered but I don't because I'm afraid the insulation will get bunched up and ruin them)

I have a pair of hybrid gloves/mittens.  They are gloves but come with a velcro attachment that slides a mitten just over the fingers so you get the best of both.

How long do those last? What is the URL to them online?

I also use ski gloves. They are warm and waterproof. I was out today for about two hours and my hands stayed toasty.
