had fun this morning
Original Message   Jan 17, 2005 10:51 am
Well, got to try my "improved drive" on my 824 this morning, in some real snow....Impressive.  I started with my usual routine of brushing off the cars lightly with a push broom, and making some nice deep piles of snow for it to gobble.  Picked a gear(5th) and went to town.  The machine feels much more solid when driving through deep snow, and it seems to keep the impellar loaded more consistently.  Works real good.  My chute rotation is binding a little(think i might've forgot to lube it in the fall) but all in all it works real good.  I wonder if FFrank is done clearing the town of batavia yet with his new machine.  Well frank???  We had about 6.5" this morning about 10" EOD.  It was a good run and it was fun, and as usual my drive was the first on the street to be cleared.  My neighbors must think i'm insane.

7am, half awake, not showered, wife wtg to go to work, I'm not into taking my time- if you get my drift ;)  Maybe the larger machines are faster, but i routinely use 3,4, and 5 on my machine, until the snow hits about a foot or so, then i slow down to not abuse the machine, though in truth i bet i could get away with 5th gear in a foot of "snowball" grade snow if I wanted too.  When I do the tight quarters stuff(between or along side the cars) i go right down into first and just lett'er creep along.
