Ariens snowblower differential
Original Message   Jul 26, 2007 9:27 pm
Does anyone know which parts needed to add a steering differential to an ariens snowblower ( year last 1960's 6hp 24in) and how much that would cost about. Also, I'm looking for a carb. rebiuld kit.

Thanks

To order the parts from Ariens would be cost prohibitive. You'd be better off simply selling yours and getting a new one. The only practical way would be to locate a parts unit and switch the components. It is rather extensive. Parts Radar on Ariens website could show you which parts. Axles, wheels, differential, etc... The newer models will soon have a differential upgrade kit, (for those units equipped without such) but not something this old.

Does the upgrade kit mean that you can buy a "Deluxe" and then turn it into a "Pro"?

No, not really. You would get the Pro differential though. There are other features on a Pro that you would obviously not get by simply upgrading the axle...

True you don't get everything on the Pro but in my mind the differential is the main differentiator. Hand warmers, cast iron auger gear case and OHV engine although nice are not as big a difference in my mind as the differential
