Ariens Sno Thro Won't Start
Original Message   Oct 3, 2006 8:40 pm
I was given a very old Ariens, model 932006-001100, engine HS50-67008B-9ER-8172B. I believe it is about 20 years old, but if you can narrow it down using the engine serial number, I am curious. It started and worked 4 years ago, but has just been left to sit in storage since then, and does not start now. I have the repair, owners and parts manuals. I replaced the spark plug, put in fresh gas, and changed out the oil. I confirmed there is a spark on the plug when the rewind starter is pulled, but there was no "catch" in the engine, even when I put a drop of fresh gas in the spark plug hole. I'm a super novice at this, but from reading the other posts it appears the likely culprit is the carb. It looks like I found a rebuild kit that would work, but have never touched a carb in my life. So. . .
Is there a guide somewhere online to rebuilding the carb? Specifically a diagram? There is nothing in the manuals. . .
Is there a chance this is something else that I may have overlooked?
Any help is appreciated. You can't dumb it down too much for me! Thanks.

your carburetor† shouldnt be a diaphram carburetor. The standard tecumseh carb has† round bowl on the bottom. inside the bowl is a float and a needle. Take it apart and clean it with a can of gumout carb cleaner. spray all the passages out real good. spray up where the needle goes. pay special attention to the brass nut on the bottom that holds the bowl on. it should have 3 holes in it. one large hole on the top and two micro sized holes on each side right above the threads. the side holes will be so small, that a strand from a toothbrush will barely fit in there... they are hard to see... make sure everything is clean and put it back together. you may not even need the carb kit unless one of your gaskets is bad. I have used these gaskets over and over with much success. turn the bottom screw out 1.5 turns and the side screw out 1 turn.

Good call! I got it started and running thanks to the detailed instructions (and a little starter fluid). Saved me a bunch of time. If anyone knows the year of this Sno Throw, please let me know. Thanks!

If you go here† you can access the parts radar site. According to that site 932006 is a 5HP 24" blower so either you have a machne that has been modded or the number is wrong. The 001100 doesn't show up.

According to here, the engine is not a snowblower engine if it was HSSK... it would be a SnowKing., I think the manual is not laid out to well and seems to be missing a bunch of info so I may have misinterpretted what it is saying

If you can confirm the numbers it would be a help.

I got the numbers right off of the machine, so they are accurate. It's an Ariens blower - 932000 compact series. The engine is definitely Tecumseh and 5HP, as there are stamps as to such on various parts. No worries. . .I was just curious on the age. I'm just happy for the advice to get the darn thing started. I was not looking forward to the shovel this winter!

I got hold of a similar Ariens Model st504, 932006. I would really be interested in copies of manuals, if you would be willing to make copies I would be willing to pay for them.

Let me know, I'd appreciate it.

The 1978 - 1979† 932006's started with s/n 000101. The Tecumseh† engine was an HS50 - 67008B. Looks like you have an original.† The '79 - '80 unit used spec number† 67008C, the Ariens s/n's started with 015001. They're both 24".† (ST504)

I need a carb linkage.† My snow thrower has a motor with this info on it:† MOTOR NUMBER:HS50 67008B SERIAL NUMBER:82548.† I need the linkage (going from device that receives input from the motorís governor and the operatorís throttle setting) to the carb itself. If anyone knows the part number that would be a great help and if anyone has a spare, he or she is willing to sell, please let me know.† Thanks.

I have the same Snowblower with the same model #'s. I went to start mine today and it ran ok for a few minutes.† I noticed it was out of gas.† I filled up the tank and started it back up. It stalled out and i noticed it was leaking gas.† The carb is a lauson power products 586 8h 4.† On the left side off the carb there is a small hole that just drains gas out of it.† Any idea what happened?
