$50 Sears YT-16
Original Message   May 15, 2005 7:48 pm
For $50 & another $50 in parts (starter drive & idler pulley) & I now have this...

I really wish I took a pic of this beforehand - it really looked like it was ready for the scrapyard - I kid you not, a real "POS"!!! It has a 44" cut, 5 speed, 16hp Twin Briggs (NOT an OHV)....

Sorry Rob.....
It's company policy that we seperate the MTD, AYP, and Murrays from the other products.

sheesh no wonder mowers last longer up here .we actually mow the lawn not concrete

and you even put passenger snowblowers on them ,must be auxillary power.

say Lint you still want to come up and do some fishing.

the bass are up to 5 lbs now and are kinda sassy, and did i mention the fishing hole is about 50 yards from the shop.

ill put some beer in the fridge for you.

Does a bear like too take a sh!t in the woods?
(You bet I do, Chris! Only 5 more months before I get my week off and head North of 40.)

If you guys think that is all the junk that one little shop can produce......You should see the saws, blowers and trimmers that go directly into the dumpster. (I wont name names.)
And....We cant just blame the manufactures for the pile....most of the stuff could have another 5-10 years of life if people would just do some basic maintainence.

Funny you should say that.
We have a guy that buys the lot and sells them in the inner-city.
He puts together what he can too make complete machines...and breaks the rest down into used parts.
It's all part of the motown food chain.

Lint,
Nice to see local entrepreneurship, makes you think there is hope after all. Scrap brings a good price now a days. The Chinese are buying up everyting they can get, and selling it back to mostly us, value added. We let them do it using this crazy exchange rate based on the chicoms manipulating their currency. Did I mention the GM plant in Baltimore closed after almost 70 years on Friday.

Geez, that not good to hear about GM.  They seem to be taking a beating sometimes.

Joe - the seat is not original, it looks as if the previous owner just replaced it. Yeah, this thing sat outdoors for a while...

AJ - All I painted was the deck. I have some of that silver/gray Craftsman paint left, I didn't want to use it up on this project since it cleaned up nicely.

Marshall - The tractor is either a 1989 or 1990 model year

Rob - The Kubota is going bye bye. I didn't order a high lift blade set for it (DUH!) so it doesn't bag damp grass too well. My JD160 cuts MUCH better, can bag grass after it rains for 3 straight days - it is still my main machine until something significantly better comes across my path (which is going to be tough - the 160 is a GREAT machine). The STX went for $1200 just last Saturday & I will miss it... . The Sears YT16 has a 6 speed trans (5 fwd & 1 rev).

'Lint - I'm on the way up with the pickup & 18' trailer to "cash in" on some of that Mother Lode!
