Off road motorcycling and kids

If you are thinking "off road" motorcycle for your derring-do offspring, there are safety issues you will want to keep in mind.

With off road biking a booming business, it is no wonder your scion wants a motorcycle to dirt bike around for the summer. More than 20,000 cyclists under 19 are ending up in the hospital each year, with fractures and internal injuries after they hit a rock or hole while riding in rough terrain at high speeds.

Make sure junior is wearing a helmet at all times and that junior is sixteen or older. Younger kids just don't have the physical strength to handle a bump in the road or the mental judgment to know when to stop. Just sending your seven year old out to the back forty to ride to his heart's content all day sound like a kid's dream…but can turn into a parent's nightmare when an accident occurs.
