What was the basis for not earning points in the help section?

As newcomers arrive they may have questions on OPE etc. as well as questions how to use the site effectively.  Members who assist in answering an OPE question help as much as those who answer questions how to use the site. 

The community posts I understand since it is like having a friendly drink.

If someone helps another shouldn't a point be given regardless which forum the assistance is given?

We are discussing this very point  via IM and E-mail with admin and Peter as I write  this .
