Cell Phone and Advertisements
Although incredibly annoying, advertisements on the web have become a way of life. But now Verizon wants to add another level of invasion on your cell phone by placing ads there when you are checking out internet sites. You’d think with your hefty cell phone bill, that the wireless giant would be looking to limit distractions, but profits seem to be winning.
A Verizon VP of marketing says look for mobile advertising to proliferate in the new year. Will Sprint, Cingular, etc. follow suit? Will there need to be some future regulation to keep the spam and unwanted ads to a minimum? Perhaps Verizon will offer some kind of discount if you allow the ads, or a premium service without ads.
However it works out, I think it is bound to raise ire with Verizon customers.
